Itâs been more than 20 years since New York R&B trio SWV dropped its huge debut, Itâs About Time .  Tragically, the group split in 1998, turning its attention to things like school and parenthood. But after years of silence, Coko, Lelee, and Taj reunited in 2005 and last year released I Missed Us , their first group effort in 15 years. When they perform at Howard Theatre tonight, theyâll bring two decades of hits with them, most likely for a crowd that grew up listening to their songs (and possibly a few kids who were conceived to them). Microsoft has a second tablet ad that bashes the iPad . In his ad, Microsoft simply lists some features Windows 8 has that the iPad doesn't. We doubt this helps Microsoft's weak Windows tablet sales, but it's much better than its previous ads which show people dancing and say nothing about the product. You can see the other ad here. Google, maker of the Android operating system, is considering buying map-software provider Waze, setting up a possible bidding war with Facebook, people familiar with the matter said. Waze is fielding expressions of interest from multiple parties and is seeking more than $ 1 billion, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based startup might also remain independent, instead seeking to raise a round of venture capital financing, the people said. Continue reading at AdAge.com

Google on Thursday announced Gmail users will soon be able to search for relevant emails, Google Drive files, Calendar events, and so on. The feature, which shows results as you type, is rolling out to US English users “over the coming week.” Until now, Google has been running a trial of the feature . The company has now apparently deemed the test a success, and is thus ready to push it out, at least stateside. Here’s how it looks: As you can see, results in the Google search box feature not only the usual email messages, but also information that Google considers to be relevant, as well as content from other Google services. We can presume that the company will continue to expand the list beyond just Google Calendar and Google Drive. More to follow.

Xbox One Interview Confirms Games Locked To Accounts, Touches On Always-On And Gives More Vagueness

Adam Sessler, from Rev3Games, recently visited the Xbox campus at Microsoft and sat down with Matt Booty, the General Manager of Redmond Games Studios, to discuss the Xbox One . The interview is around 17 minutes, so I’m just going to discuss what I think are the three most important things, because they are discouraging. This interview is also a bit irritating, as there’s a lot of side-stepping, vagueness and avoidance of the important questions and answers. But I’m going to focus on a few things that we have some clarity on. Here’s the first thing, that arrives at the one minute mark. It is almost unambiguous in the interview above, that the content on each disc will be installed to your Xbox One, and basically a unique code or game license will be attached to your profile, linking with your account. We don’t know if you’ll physically need to enter a code or if it will just be automatic. Most likely the latter. This means the game will be locked to your profile only. Booty was very careful about his wording here, but there’s no way to dodge this. He says that “while everyone in your household can play the game”, if a friend comes over and wants to use their profile, they’ll need to pay to access the game content and it will be as if “you’re buying the game”. What about the issue of people in your household only being able to play the game if you’re using the same account? So if you have siblings and you all use different profil

The Weber Spirit E-210 Is the Grill You Want for Memorial Day Weekend

Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, our friends over at The Wirecutter have weighed in on the topic of gas grills. They say the Weber Spirit E-210 is the one for your backyard, and praise it for its build quality, wide availability, and most importantly, how well it grills a nice steak. The Weber Spirit E-210 isn't a cheap grill, it averages about $ 400 in most places, and The Wirecutter acknowledges that—they still think it's worth the money though, and point out that Weber's name and track record count for a lot, you'll never have to worry about finding parts or someone who can repair the thing (because it's an incredibly popular grill), and it doesn't hurt that the grill's twin burners pack a huge punch when it's time to start cooking. It's easy to clean and maintain, and it's small enough to fit in tiny backyards or on urban patios. It also doesn't hurt that the E-210's large cooking grate is made of enamelled cast-iron, so you know what that means—great heat retention, easy clean up, and deliciously seared meats. It's not a perfect grill by any means, and aside from the price, they go into some of its drawbacks at the link below, including the fact that it's a little slow by gas grill standards to warm up. If you're thinking "of course it has problems, it's gas and not charcoal," they have a pick for the best charcoal grill for you too, and it shouldn't come as a surprise: the affordable, ubiquitious Weber One-Touch Gold .

Microsoft Promises More Japanese Support For Xbox One At E3

You might have noticed that this week's Xbox One event was very… Western. Microsoft's snazzy entertainment functions are all designed for American televisions. The games— FIFA , Call of Duty , Quantum Break —were all made by Western developers. Other than a two-second appearance by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, there wasn't much for fans of Japanese games to get excited about. Microsoft has traditionally failed to sell Xboxes in Japan, so it could be safe to conclude that the publisher isn't all that interested in Eastern products. So we asked Microsoft vice president Phil Harrison: where are the Japanese games? His answer: we'll see more at E3. Here's the full transcript: Stephen Totilo: I know this was not a gaming-centric event, but it did feel very America-centric. While I saw Hideo Kojima in the beginning, there really was no presence from Japanese publishers or developers. You guys have said the system is coming out worldwide at the same time. Can you say anything about global support, or at least Japanese game development for this? Harrison: If that was your take-out, that was not intentional. You will see at E3 games from four continents—three, well, yeah, three and a big continent. You will see, throughout the rest of the year, between now and launch, a number of occasions where we will tell a more local story that is customized and more regionalized, but this, by necessity, had to be a more global message.
