A lot of people felt that, the way the goaltenders were playing during the overtime periods in Game 1 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, we could still be playing the game right now if they had their druthers. Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins and Corey Crawford of the Chicago Blackhawks played one of the most incredible 4-3 games you'll ever seen, both stopping shot after shot after shot. Only a crazy, double deflection to get by Rask could end the game, and give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead in the series. After the customary two days off (the NHL traditionally plays its Final on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) the two teams return for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final at United Center on Saturday night. The two teams will, hopefully, be fresh and ready to go after nearly playing the equivalent of two consecutive games on Wednesday. Boston and Chicago both took Thursday off and held practices on Friday. This is an important game in the Stanley Cup Final, statistically. Teams winning Game 2 of the Final have gone on to win the Stanley Cup in 55 of 73 years since the best-of-seven format began in 1939 (75.3%), including eight of the past 10 seasons. Also, the all-time record of home clubs sweeping Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final is 32-3 (.914). I'm not sure if people are ready to jump off the Tobin after the Blackhawks winning Game 1 in Triple OT, but if you are step back a little. Just a little. Get your toes away from the ledge. The Bruins will be fine. I know, I'm the voice of reason right now. That should scare the piss out of you because it scares me a little too. But seriously, go back and watch the game again. It took a Johnny Oduya puck going off of Andrew Ference's skate to tie the game up. When you hit multiple overtimes, it's basically a coin flip. Boston had tons and tons of chances in each overtime and couldn't bury them. Oh well. Shit happens. I went on Facebook and said that everything will be fine with the Bruins and people were losing their shit. Look, I get it, they lost a 3OT game. If they win on Saturday night – it doesn't matter. All a road team needs to do is split. I said that when Boston won Game 1 in the Pittsburgh series. We were all worried going Game 1 that Boston wouldn't be able to skate with Chicago and it looked like they were able to hang in there. Father's Day is this weekend and Crappy Baby and I were talking about what to do for Crappy Papa. I always ask the kids their ideas for stuff like this. They'll come up with something easy like cupcakes with "Papa" written on them. We'll make the cupcakes and then I'll present them with the explanation, "The kids wanted to make you cupcakes, it was their idea." And because it was their idea he'll feel all warm and fuzzy and he can't complain that all he got for Father's Day was another batch of cupcakes because it was their idea. You see my motive? Having them come up with something takes all the pressure off. Besides, it is Father's Day. Not Husband's Day. The kids should be doing the heavy lifting in the ideas department. So I ask Crappy Baby: No? How could this be? He always has ideas. Maybe I have to rephrase the question. No again? Dang. He isn't helping. I know, I'll help him brainstorm! One person was killed in Alexandria Friday night when thousands of Muslims tried to storm the Al-Azraa Church during clashes with Coptic Christians. Al-Abram reported: One person has died and dozens injured in clashes between Muslims and Coptic Christians in Egypt’s north coast city of Alexandria, the Ahram Arabic news website reported. Clashes erupted Friday night in Al-Geish Street in western Alexandria, after a fight started between two young men, one Copt and the other Muslim, when the Copt allegedly sexually harassed the latter’s sister. The parties involved in the fight reportedly used Molotov cocktails and machine guns. The incident left one person, Sherif Sedki Saad, dead by a heart-attack during the clashes, and dozens others injured. Nasser El-Abd, Alexandria’s investigations director, said that Central Security Forces prevented the crowds from storming into Al-Azraa Church in Al-Geish Street where clashes have been taking place. Security forces have also spread in the area to restore order. According to Reuters, police arrested eight people after two hours of fighting. The situation is currently reported to be calm in the area. This was the second attack this week on a Christian Church in Egypt.
