Remarkable night at Wembley yesterday: an outstanding match (congrats @ ussoccer_wnt ) & over 80,000 fans. Phenomenal – d3w.io/P9bnSy — Joseph S Blatter (@SeppBlatter) August 10, 2012 Many trolls are calling the next clip the best moment of the 2012 Olympics. On Thursday night, in front of a packed house of 80,000 fans, the United States beat Japan 2-1 in the Women’s Olympics soccer final. Never one to miss an opportunity to get his face in front of millions of eye-balls, Fifa President Sepp Blatter attended the showpiece final, however the Swiss supremo was made about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. Blatter was called upon to hand out the gold and silver medals, but when the senior citizens stepped out onto the Wembley turf a chorus of boos rained down on the Fifa President from a crowd of angry Englishman. The incident cemented Blatter’s position as public enemy number one for English football fans, who remain livid at the decision not to award England the World Cup in 2018. Watch Sepp Blatter’s public heckling below.

Obama calls adding just 80,000 jobs in June (wth 85,000 people going on disability) a step in the right direction . Obama’s economic adviser and stand up assclown Austan Goolsbee said he was ‘feeling ok’ with lousy June jobs report. Now we have Debbie Wasserman-Schultz declaring her happiness at the miserable jobs report . OF COURSE if the job market participation rate were the same as when Obama took office the rate would be at 10.9%. Of course we don’t want to bore the pink slime media or progressive with things like facts, now do we?

• Tepid economy adds just 80,000 new jobs in June • 'Not surprised but disappointed' is market reaction • Slowest quarterly job growth for two years • National jobless rate remains stuck at 8.2% • Black unemployment rises sharply to 14.4% 12.42pm: The NYT's Nate Silver returns to the scene of the jobs report this morning – and says there are three questions to answer, among them Is this a game changer?: Before the January job numbers were released, I wrote that 150,000 jobs added per month would make Mr Obama roughly break-even for re-election given his approval ratings at that time. Between the strong numbers in the first few months of the year and the weaker ones recently, almost exactly 150,000 jobs per month have been created so far in 2012. However, Mr Obama seems to have gotten the benefit of the doubt from voters. His approval ratings improved some early in the year, but have not yet declined much with recent jobs reports. 11.30am: I'm joining Ana Marie Cox for a live chat now. Economy Added Only 80,000 Jobs in October. Maybe.

The October jobs report is out, and while unemployment went down a notch to 9.0 percent, the jobs market is still pretty damn weak . The economy added just 80,000 jobs in October, continuing a pattern of weak job growth. Upward revisions to the growth numbers for the prior two months brought the average for the last three months to 114,000, slightly higher than the 90,000 needed to keep pace with the growth of the labor force. At this pace it would take more than 33 years to return to the pre-recession rates of unemployment . At least, we think the economy added just 80,000 jobs in October. It seems that every month the previous couple months’ reports keep getting revised upwards, so perhaps jobs growth is a tad more robust than reported. And of course, the October jobs report would look substantially stronger if not for the 22,000 jobs state and local governments shed last month, but of course, public employees don’t count as real Americans, so fuck ‘em. Besides, Republicans are doing important things like enshrining "In God We Trust" as a national motto, so I’m sure everything will turn around shortly.
