Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Concept Good Enough for Google is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile . Google didn’t announce a new version of Android at Google I/O 2013 but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have major updates in store for Android owners. The first of these updates should be Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, rumored to be arriving in July, while the biggest update of the year is thought to be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. And while we haven’t heard much about the real Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie , Android enthusiasts may hope that it resembles a Android 5.0 concept that recently emerged. At Google I/O 2013, the company failed to offer an Android update for smartphone and tablet owners, instead choosing to focus on upgrades to its current services. However, rumors suggest that a new Android update is close with whispers pointing to an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release in the not-so-distant future. Rumors suggest the update could arrive as soon as this month with July also being mentioned as a possibility. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is rumored for later this year. This is a concept. Android 4.3 isn’t thought to be a massive upgrade from Android 4.2. Instead, Google is likely saving its best for an update later in the year, an update that is thought to be Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie rumors are scarce with the only whispering suggesting that the update could be arriving in late October, just like last year’s Android 4.2

During the Apple keynote yesterday we saw a lot of interesting and exciting new things with iOS 7, many of which have been available on Android for some time, but we won’t get into that now . The most impressive new feature and UI aspect (for me) was this “liveliness” 3D wallpaper doing the parallax effect. Showing the background image move as you tilt the device. Thanks to an eagle-eyed reader we’ve learned this is nothing new for Android. Check out our hands-on below of what surely is my favorite new app. This neat and snazzy little feature is called the parallax effect, and I didn’t even know we could enjoy such awesomeness on our Android smartphones and tablets. When you move the phone the background image appears as if it’s in 3D and will pan and tilt to your motion. Using the gyroscope in the smartphone, the feature is visually impressive to say the least. It’s certainly neat, and something I was in awe of when Apple showed it off on screen. I instantly wanted it, and sure enough I now have it, well before any users are enjoying iOS 7. Thankfully here in the Android world we’ve had live wallpapers for a long, long time, and this feature isn’t anything new. After a reader tipped us off about an app called 3D Image Live Wallpaper. Check it out in action below. The video is pretty self explanatory and will give you a good idea of what we’re working with here. The app basically makes your wallpaper feel like an immersive and li

Mobile data caps have been the enemy of Google Play Music for quite some time, but a new update, available in the Play Store today, might provide a quick fix. By default, the service streams music at the highest quality possible on a given connection, so it wasn't always friendly to users dealing with data limits. With this update, Google is aiming to decrease the amount of overall data the app uses while providing more bandwidth usage settings. Additionally, the update boasts improved search quality and faster music downloads. Hopefully, Google will continue to work out the kinks before its forthcoming iOS All Access rollout . In the meantime, Google Play Music users can mosey on over to the source link below to download the latest version. Filed under: Software , Google Comments Via: The Next Web Source: Google Play Store

The Acer DA220HQL AIO will be priced just above $ 400 at most resellers. Note: That's an Android — not a Windows 8 — screen. Though the system as listed on reseller sites was confirmed with Acer on Thursday, those specs are incorrect. Resellers are incorrectly showing the AIO with an Intel 4430 processor. It is a Texas Instruments 4430 ARM chip. Less Windows, more Android. Acer is about to give us a taste of this trend, as Android PCs begin to creep onto the market. The Acer DA220HQL, which is already live on Acer's site , comes with a 21.5-inch multi-touch display 1,920×1,080 display, Android 4.0, and a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 dual-core ARM Coretex-A9 processor. It also includes 1GB of memory, 8GB internal storage, front-facing camera, built-in speakers, Wi-Fi, Micro-HDMI, Micro USB 2.0, and wireless keyboard and mouse. The new AIO will go for less than $ 400 at some resellers, though most listings put it about $ 425. Some are higher than $ 425. And that's the appeal of Android. Systems sans Windows 8 can be priced lower and require less hardware. After Earth game brings another endless runner to Android

Earlier today we mentioned a game being released to accompany the movie with World War Z, and now we’re seeing the same thing for the upcoming action film After Earth. Will Smith style and all. In a partnership with Sony Pictures, the team at Reliance Games is releasing a new game for Android and other mobile devices, called After Earth. It’s basically an endless runner but it actually could be pretty fun so take a peek below. Even if the movie took some design and visual hints from Avatar it still looks pretty darn good. The game will closely follow the movie, and ties in directly with the cast. A cast which doesn’t have too many people so you won’t need to worry about that. The movie has Will Smith and his son fighting all types of animals so making this an endless runner actually works quite well. It’s a little bit of Temple Run and a little of Iron Man 3 blend into their own game to coincide with the movie. They describe it as a game “based on the film where you can slide, leap and fly through perilous terrain, and slice and dice evil creatures that lurk in the dark with your cutlass sword.” And here’s the launch trailer too: After watching the preview the game actually looks quite fun. Being everything and more that Temple Run 2 is, although we’ll have to try it before we give it a thumbs up. It’ll run users a quick $ 0.99 on the Google Play Store and so far it has mixed reviews. A few screen flickering issues are mentioned,

Google Music recently received a pretty big update with an entirely new user interface to go along with their new “All Access” music streaming service, but sadly the app needs some work. Today Google’s busy updating multiple apps, and Play Music just got some much needed new features. Mainly the ability to delete a track, which surprisingly wasn’t available before. Today Google is updating the Play Music app with a few new features, but so far the update isn’t showing up for everyone and is a staged rollout. The update will allow users to delete tracks, as well as add or remove songs to/from the library, and even share songs. Those my access songs can blend in with everything you’d always had in Play Music, but you weren’t able to delete any of them on mobile devices. Instead of having to open up a web browser and search for the song, then delete it, we now can quickly and easily do so on mobile. We’re not sure how this managed to get passed up on the initial release, but at least they were quick with an update. Right? * Added option to delete tracks * Can share song and add to playlist from Now Playing screen * Remove from My Library now supported That’s the entire change log above. The Now playing screen has more options in the settings menu too, as stated above. You can instantly add or remove the song from your library, or share it with all your friends. Friends that Google hopes are on Google+ when you share the music. The P

Tim Cook On Google Glass, Open APIs For iOS, Apple Apps For Android, iOS 7 And More [VIDEO]

Speaking with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher at D11 in California on Tuesday night, Tim Cook was predictably coy with regards to specific information on upcoming Apple products and services. Speaking calmly and in his typically emollient fashion, the Cupertino head honcho spoke broadly of his companys desire to continue innovating, on Googles Glass project, and an assortment of other important topics in tech space. The main theme of Cooks interview was to emphasize the Apple philosophy of building quality products, rather than a broad range. As weve seen time and again, Apple is consistently outnumbered in the mobile, tablet and computing industry in general, but rather than bringing out twenty different MacBook variations and ten different iPads, Cook maintains that Apples goal is to deliver the very best. Arguably, we make the best PC, but we dont make the most .. We made the best music player [the iPod], and we wound up making the most, but we didnt initially. He sees Apples supremacy in the usage of products, rather than just how many units have been sold. The iPad, for example, is the most popular for browsing the Web, and despite scores of other companies focusing on selling many different devices, Cook seems happy with the way things are going for Apple. Regarding iOS 7, Tim Cook didnt reveal much but confirmed an already-confirmed news that Jony Ive would be working on it. When asked about the next version of i

Xiaomi Box Android TV box now available outside of China… sort of

The Xiaomi Box is an inexpensive device which you can plug into a TV to run Android apps and stream internet video on a TV. We’ve seen a lot of those in the past year or so. But this one is the first to come from Xiaomi, a Chinese hardware and software company known for offering high-quality products at low prices. Xiaomi has been offering the box in China for a few months, although demand seems to generally be greater than supply. But now it looks like you can buy a Xiaomi Box even if you’re not in China. Several stores at AliExpress are selling the Xiaomi Box, with prices starting at around $ 76 . There’s just one catch: as far as I can tell, the user interface is entirely in Chinese, and as far as I’m aware there’s no easy way to change it to English or another language. While it’s pretty simple to change the default language on a stock Android device, the Xiaomi Box isn’t running stock Android software. Instead it has Xiaomi’s custom version of Android which is pretty, easy to navigate, and in this case only available in Chinese. If that’s not a problem for you, the Xiaomi Box features an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 1GB of RAM, Ethernet, WiFi, and HDMI. It also comes with a wireless remote control. via AndroidPC.es Xiaomi Box Android TV box now available outside of China… sort of is a post from: Liliputing
