A drawing app with a hidden mode that unlocks iPhone tethering has been removed from the App Store by Apple. The hidden tethering mode in an app called Little Artist Canvas was first discovered last night, followed by the app's swift removal. The $ 0.99 app purported to be (and did function as) a simple drawing app. But the real power of the app, of course, came from its ability to let users tether their iPhone without paying an additional fee to your carrier. For those interested in how the app allowed tethering, check out this video here . Little Artist Canvas wasn't the first app to hide tethering unlock abilities inside it. Previously a flashlight app made it onto the App Store that allowed the same functionality. That app too was quickly removed by Apple. Source: cranberry.patch.com – Saturday, May 18, 2013 Want to try your luck at Powerball? All you need is one $ 2 lottery ticket to play.
The Powerball jackpot was boosted to $ 600 million, or a $ 376.9 million cash prize for the Saturday, May 18, drawing after none of the tickets sold Wednesday matched the winning numbers.
The multi-state mega-lottery had rolled to a $ 475 million value after Wednesday's drawing, but increased by $ 125 million Thursday afternoon as a result of strong ticket sales, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery .
The $ 600 million jackpot is the largest jackpot in the game’s history . The second largest was won last Nov. 28, 2012, when a $ 587.5 million jackpot was shared by two tickets sold in Arizona and Missouri.
Tickets for the next Powerball drawing will be available until 9:59 p.m. Saturday evening.
Your odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is one in 175.2 million. You're more likely to get struck by lightning (one in 700,000) or fatally attacked by a shark (one in 3.7 million).
But, hey, somebody has to win.
If you want to double your luck, lottery players are also excited about the May 17 Mega Millions drawing , with that game’s jackpot offering a $ 190 million annuity value or a $ 140.9 million cash prize.

YouTube Pfc. Ted Daniels’s firefight with the Taliban has been viewed more than 23 million times, but until now, most of the world didn’t even know his name. The U.S. Army soldier’s intense first-person video showed the terror of war, brought out the armchair critics and spawned more than 80,000 online comments — but he didn’t even originally intend for anyone but his family to see it, according to an interview with the Washington Post . Instead, Daniels just wanted to save the footage so he could play it one day for his two sons, to show them what their dad once did a world away. Pfc. Ted Daniels’s helmet camera video during a firefight with the Taliban has been viewed more than 23 million times. (Image source: The Washington Post) It all started in the rocky hills of Afghanistan last April, when Daniels turned on his helmet camera and captured the pop, pop, pop of enemy fire. “Hey! I’m moving down!” he yelled, navigating the treacherous terrain with bullets whizzing past, hoping to draw the Taliban’s guns away from his fellow soldiers. Breathing heavily, on the move, he stopped behind a rock for cover then had an enemy round hit his rifle, knocking it out of his hands. “I’m hit! I’m hit!” he shouted repeatedly. And then, “Help me!” The camera battery died a few moments later, but it didn’t matter: It had captured what the Post described as “perhaps the most-watched footage of the Afghan war.” Daniels was sent home in August 201

Mitt Romney Slams Obama For ‘Sympathizing’ With Libya And Egypt Attackers, Drawing A ‘Shocked’ Rebuke

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney released a statement Tuesday night condemning the Obama administration's response to attacks on U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya, the latter of which left one American dead. Here's Romney's statement: “I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.” Romney's statement later drew a stern rebuke from the Obama campaign, which said it was "shocked." “We are shocked that, at a time when the United States of America is confronting the tragic death of one of our diplomatic officers in Libya, Governor Romney would choose to launch a political attack," spokesman Ben LaBolt said in a statement. Protestors in Egypt and Libya attacked U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya on Tuesday, scaling the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and tearing down its American flag over an online film that was considered offensive to Muslims. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo released a statement — which came before the protests began — apologizing for the film. The Wall Street Journal reported that the filmmaker, an Israeli-American real-estate developer, called Islam a "cancer" in an interview. As we move closer to Apple’s September 12 media event, and further details of what is likely to be announced by the firm bubble to the surface of the rumor mill, a pretty clear picture of what the sixth-generation iPhone (expected to be called “iPhone 5” – based on Apple’s press invite ) may offer, is starting to come into view. Made with Google SketchUp by Will Hains , the following is a CAD (Computer-Aided Drawing) of Apple’s next-generation iPhone that we came across this weekend. Part of a series of other sketches Hains himself made with the goal of providing an accurate depiction of the look and feel of Apple’s next iPhone , the renders specifically caught our eye as they appear to match up almost perfectly with those (allegedly) “leaked” parts we’ve been seen over the past several months – (not to mention that heavily-rumored “close-to-4-inch” display ) Of course, the mock-up doesn’t necessarily follow the idea that Apple will drop its 30-pin dock connector for a smaller 9-pin variant – but we believe that’s largely irrelevant , considering there are many people out there (including case manufacturers) who believe the standard will remain the same — and if the 30-pin connector stays, so do those smaller speakers, which would make the drawing on-point. Describing the drawing, Hains writes: One thing that struck me about the iPad 2 design was that although it was about a third thinner than the first-generation iPad, it felt m

SOPA sent back to the drawing board in wake of Internet protests

Source: latimesblogs.latimes.com – Friday, January 20, 2012 The SOPA online piracy bill that helped spark this week’s unprecedented Internet protests will be redrafted, its lead sponsor said Friday. The move came shortly after the Senate postponed a key vote on the companion PIPA bill scheduled for next week and amid calls for consensus before Congress moves forward on any legislation to address the problem of foreign piracy websites. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) had hoped to push his Stop Online Piracy Act through the committee next month. But in the wake of growing opposition triggered by Wednesday’s Internet blackout, Smith said the committee "will postpone consideration of the legislation until there is wider agreement on a solution." "I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy," Smith said. "It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products." Smith said his committee "remains committed to finding a solution to the problem of online piracy that protects American intellectual property and innovation." Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) also said he was committed to addressing the problem. But he blasted opponents of his Protect Intellectual Property Act, which unanimously passed the committee last year and appeared headed for approval by t
