Sidney Crosby Notches Hat Trick In Game 2 Win For Penguins

Sidney Crosby scored his second career playoff hat trick on Friday as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Crosby took advantage of an Ottawa defense playing on its heels a bit, scoring three times in a little more than a period. The Penguins went on to win the game 4-3 , with a chance to put a stranglehold on the series at it now moves back to Ottawa. Though Ottawa’s defense paid extra attention to Crosby, they could not stop him on Friday night. “He’s one of the best in the game and if you give him time, space to make plays, to shoot puck he’s going to burn you,” Ottawa defenseman Chris Phillips said. “That’s what we did tonight. We gave him too much room and he took advantage.” The Penguins have now taken care of business in the opening part of the series, winning both home games and looking very much like the team many picked to win the Stanley Cup. “You want to play well at home and make sure you get here,” Crosby said. “We did that, we got two wins. I don’t think your mindset changes. We know that it’s going to get harder.” Pittsburgh stumbled a bit in the first round, allowing the New York Islanders to stretch the series to six games thanks in part to poor goaltending from Marc-Andre Fleury. But the Penguins have turned to veteran Thomas Vokoun since then, and he has been more than enough to put them past the Islanders and dig the Senators into
Stanley Cup Playoffs 2013, Sharks vs. Kings Game 2: Time, TV schedule and more

The San Jose Sharks were by no means bad in Game 1. In fact, they controlled a lot of the possession on Tuesday night, and outshot the Los Angeles Kings, 35-20. They ran into a familiar brick wall by the name of Jonathan Quick, however, who shut them out by a count of 2-0 . It was the way the Kings were able to win games last year: timely scoring from different heroes every night, great goaltending, and solid physical play (39 hits from LA on Tuesday). It all looked awfully familiar. The two teams meet again on Thursday night for Game 2 of their Western Conference Semifinal series. The Sharks will likely have one lineup change, as Raffi Torres is expected to be suspended for his hit to the head of Jarret Stoll , who is also likely to miss Game 2. Torres played a lot of key minutes in Game 1 on a line with Logan Couture and Patrick Marleau, so while he may not be missed significantly, there are minutes that will need to be filled with two key Sharks now that he's gone. The Kings are probably fine with the way things are going. They've won five of their first seven playoff games, including five straight. Mike Richards has a point per game, yet no other player has more than four. Quick continues to be amazing in net during the postseason. They'll take that formula for as long as it works. For the Sharks, however, it's time for their often streaky offense to hit its stride again. Will Antti Niemi rebound from a merely average Game 1?

EA has long been said to be working on a mobile version for its Frostbite engine, and now the company has posted information about the effort online. The Frostbite page officially reveals the existence of Frostbite Go, a "mobile division" meant to allow Frostbite-based games. While it says the Frostbite Go project will target "all major mobile platforms," only iOS and Android are mentioned specifically. The company was hiring mobile developers last year, and an EA / Dice project manager mentioned a mobile team called Frostbite Go in April. Epic — whose mobile version of Unreal Engine 3 powers popular iOS game Infinity Blade — has long led the pack in bringing AAA engines to mobile platforms, but EA and Crytek have both previously… Continue reading…

The NBA playoffs offer two Game 3's on Saturday with both series tied at 1-1. The Oklahoma City Thunder look to bounce back on the road after losing Game 2 to the Memphis Grizzlies , while the Indiana Pacers hope the series shifting to their home court will cure a dismal offensive showing after their loss to the New York Knicks . Welcome to Loud City Grizzly Bear Blues NBA Playoffs Coverage Thunder vs. Grizzlies Game 3 (Series tied 1-1), Game time: 5 p.m. ET | TV: ESPN Kevin Durant scored 36 points while shooting over 50 percent from the field, but it wasn't enough as the Grizzlies took Game 2 in Oklahoma City, 93-99. Will his teammates step up and give him the help he needs to carry the team? Derek Fisher had a huge night off the bench for the Thunder, going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc on his way to 19 points, but that level of production cannot be anticipated. Mike Conley dominated the game with a near triple-double while hitting the go-ahead three-point field goal that was the climax of the Grizzlies' 30-point fourth quarter. Zebelun Benbrook of Welcome to Loud City considered the Thunder moving for a small-ball lineup that worked well for them in Game 2, and he concluded that it is a risky strategy that could also be high-reward: However, this can also make the strategy very risky. It inherently relies on the Thunder's shooters, who haven't been very reliable so far. Sure, Derek Fisher and Serge Ibaka were able to make some gr
